There seems to be a lot of beacons out in the field that have
similar part numbers, which can be a cause of confusion.
Here is our basic guide to the different sorts we have encountered.
Beacons used on L3 Capsules

PT9 C-Proof - MARINE BEACON. (L3 P/N 266M119600)
Now standard on most capsules.
Dual ended with contact switch at both ends.
Special corrosion resistant body and contacts.
Fitting kits available for retrofits to earlier models
Long Case approx 3.3 cms x 9.80 cms

DKM502 - MARINE BEACON. (L3 P/N 266M119900)
New Dukane beacon that will be standard fit on new
L3 HVR/SVR capsules.
Dual ended with a contact switch at both ends
Long case approx 3.30 cm x 9.95 cms

DK480 - MARINE BEACON. (L3 P/N 2669800011)
Dual ended with a contact switch at both ends.
Short case approx 3.30 cms x 7.9 cms
Supplied on early HVR01 capsules
Single ended with switch at one end
Short case appox 3.3 cms x 7.9 cms
Standard supply as a replacement beacon from L3
and on the HVR01 capsules.

DKM480R - MARINE BEACON. (L3 P/N 266M069500)
This is a factory refurbished DKM480. (See above)
Cases cleaned of corrosion and new battery fitted.

DKM120 - MARINE BEACON. (L3 P/N 266M069400)
Single ended with switch at one end
Long Case approx 3.3 cms x 10 cms
Supplied as standard on all HVR02, HVR03,
SVR02 & SVR03 capsules.
Replaced by PT9 or DKM502
Other Beacons
These beacons are all available from us, but some are not
primarily designed for use in the marine environment. Other VDR manufactures have chosen their own options or people have retrofitted different beacons, hence all of these are in the field.
Single ended with switch at one end.
Stainless Steel body.
Kit Includes pressure switch cover and brackets
Long Case approx 3.18 cms x 9.80 cms
DK120 - AVIATION BEACON. (L3 P/N 266E030500)
Used in Furuno VDR, where it is enclosed, but
not designed for external use in the marine environment .
Single ended with switch at one end
Cheaper because they made of less durable steel contact
Long case 3.30 cms x 10 cms

DK-140 - AVIATION BEACON.
Not designed for use in the marine environment
Single ended with switch at one end
Short Case approx 3.30 cms x 7.50 cms

ELP-362D - AVIATION BEACON.
Was used on Netwave recorders and maybe other
makes of VDR. Netwave now use the PT9 as std.
